### Freshly Plastered Walls Fresh plaster is porous and alkaline. Standard emulsion applied directly will be absorbed unevenly, leaving patches and a poor surface for subsequent coats.
We assess plaster cure before touching it. Plaster changes colour from dark pink to a consistent pale buff as it dries.
We do not begin sealing coat application until we are satisfied the plaster is ready. Rushing this stage causes problems that cannot be undone without stripping back.

Sealing Coat Application
A sealing coat is a heavily diluted emulsion, typically three parts paint to one part water. It soaks into the plaster surface, seals the porosity, and creates a key for topcoats.
We apply sealing coats by roller, working quickly to avoid lap marks on the absorbent surface. We allow full drying time before applying the first topcoat.
The sealing coat is a preparation stage. Skipping it or substituting a neat coat directly on new plaster produces a surface that fails.
First and Second Fix
First fix decoration covers the basic applied coats before skirting boards, architraves, and door linings are fitted. Second fix is the finish coat applied after all joinery is installed.
We coordinate with your builder or project manager to work at the right phase. We do not apply finish coats before joinery is in place if there is any risk of subsequent trades damaging the surface.
New Build and Extension

2. Sealing coat

3. Topcoats
We apply two coats of finish emulsion, sanding lightly between coats where required. Ceilings and walls are completed to a consistent, flat finish.
4. Inspection
