- Fire doors painted with compatible coatings that preserve door rating
- Victorian and Edwardian period joinery hand-painted into every groove
Bradford’s period homes contain original joinery worth preserving. We prepare properly, prime correctly, and apply durable finishes that hold up to daily use. Victorian panel doors with deep mouldings are hand-applied throughout. Rollers miss recesses and leave an uneven finish.

Door Painting Services in Bradford
### Interior Flush Doors Modern flush doors need flawless surface preparation. Any dent, hollow, or imperfection shows clearly under a painted finish.
We fill, sand, and prime before touching colour. Spray application gives a factory-smooth result with no brush marks.
Common in 1960s and 1970s homes across Heaton, Allerton, and Eccleshill.

Panelled Doors
Bradford’s Victorian and Edwardian properties contain original panel doors with deep mouldings and raised sections. These require hand-applied work to paint cleanly into every groove and corner.
We use appropriate brushes for each profile. We never roll panelled doors: rollers miss the recesses and leave an uneven finish.
The result respects the original joinery.
Door Frames and Architraves
Frames and architraves take more wear than the door itself. Fingermarks, scuffs, and knocks accumulate fastest at the doorway edge.
We include all frames and architraves as standard when painting doors. We use a hard-wearing eggshell or satin finish that washes clean and resists daily contact.
Fire Doors
Fire doors must not be altered without care. We use compatible coatings that do not affect the door’s integrity or rating.
We work in place on fire doors, masking hardware and glazing carefully. Correct product selection is essential here: we specify appropriately for every fire door job.
Wardrobe and Cupboard Doors
Built-in wardrobes and fitted cupboards are often overlooked during a full redecoration. Old varnish or dark stain can drag an otherwise refreshed room back.
We sand back, seal any knots, prime, and apply a consistent finish to match surrounding woodwork. MDF doors get sealed at the edges before painting to prevent absorption.

How It Works
1. Preparation
We sand all surfaces to a key, fill holes and cracks, and seal any knots in bare timber. Door frames get cleaned and degreased thoroughly.
2. Priming
Bare timber gets an oil-based or specialist timber primer. Previously painted doors get a bonding primer where the existing coating is glazed or shiny
3. Application
We apply one undercoat and two finish coats as standard. Panelled doors are hand-painted. Flush doors can be sprayed for a smoother result.
4. Inspection and reinstatement
We check all edges, mouldings, and hardware for overspray or runs. Any doors removed for painting are rehung before we leave.

Door Painting Costs in Bradford
Prices below are estimates only. Every job is different.
Call 01274 003166 for a precise quote. A single interior door costs between £80 and £150 to paint professionally, including preparation and finish coats.
A full hallway set of five or six doors typically runs £400 to £700.
Three things drive the price:** – **Number of doors
More doors reduce cost per door: setup and travel are shared across the batch.
- Condition. Doors with multiple old paint layers, cracked frames, or damaged mouldings take longer to prepare.
- Door type. Panelled Victorian doors with deep profiles take more time than flat flush doors.
Doing these as a batch saves significantly against tackling them individually. Call 01274 003166 to arrange a site visit and written quote.
